Oversea Cell Phones can it be used it
Korea?
Hi Everyone!!!!
I am Lucas Kim, staff of “Story of Korea”
from China.
Today I am going to talk about the
Country Lock of oversea cell phone.
HAHAHAHA

To be frank, I thought that phones can be used internationally
before I entered to this company. However, it was totally “WRONG”!!!! I remember that there was a customer
from USA who brought his phone (which bought in USA) to our company, and wanted
to open the SIM Card in Korea. But the result is “NO”.
When I want to verify the phone, the
screen of entering the SIM PIN appeared. The reason is because of the Country Lock.
So, what is Country Lock?
Main Concept:
If you cannot use any SIM from telecommunication company,
that means Country Lock has been set on your cell phone.
Another words:
If you set a Country Lock in A Country,
then you cannot use your cell phone outside of A Country.
OMG!!!!It’s ridiculous~
Therefore, the only thing you have to do
is to clear the Country Lock.
How to clear the Country Lock?
The fastest method to clear the Country Lock:
To call your home country Telecommunication Company and
said “I am now in oversea and want to use the USIM in this country so please
help me clear the Country Lock of my cell phone” Then they will give you an Unlock
Pin Number to enter. Input the number and you can clear the Country Code
easily.
For our experience, there are lots of people who bring
their own phone (which bought in home country) to our company. So please check
whether there is Country Lock on your phone before opening the USIM.
To conclude:
“Almost all the phone in developed countries, Country Lock have been set.”
Representative example of Telecommunication Company which
set the Country Lock in their products~
USA AT&A; VERIZONE,
Japan SOFTBANK; DOCOMO etc.
Following are two suggestions to solve this kind of
problem.
TIPs (1)
Call your Telecommunication Company in your home
country to ask for clearing the Country Lock. (However, there may be case that
your phone is still under contract then the Telecommunication Company may
reject your request)
TIPs (2)
Just take the chance to buy the new cell phone in
Korea~!!!!!
All in all, please make sure that your cell phone is
without Country Lock before you come to Korea.
This is not only happened in Korea but also other
countries, so take this as reference.
